Aurangabad
A formidable 12th-century hill fort roughly 15 km from Aurangabad, Daulatabad (originally Devagiri) was briefly the capital of the Delhi Sultanate under Muhammad bin Tughlaq. The fort is known for its ingenious defensive design, including a moat, a dark tunnel built to disorient invaders, and a steep climb to the summit that rewards visitors with sweeping views of the surrounding plains.
